Course Dates and Registration 

The course dates for 2023-2024 are:

Session I: Tuesday, September 26, 2023, 10:00-12:00 and Tuesday, October 10 2023, 10:00-12:00 (both sessions on Zoom)  Registration for this session has closed. 

Session II: Tuesday, February 20, 2024, 10:00-12:00 and Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 10:00-12:00 (both sessions on Zoom)  Registration will open in early February.

The Course

The Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course is mandatory for all biomedical research graduate students within the Faculty of Medicine who began their studies on or after January 2013. It is offered three times each academic year and as of 2013 is comprised of two face-to-face sessions and an online component that is to be completed between these two sessions. The RCR Course has been offered by the Faculty of Medicine since 2007 (face-to-face only for 2007-2013).

The online RCR course can be accessed at: www.citiprogram.org (registering under the University of British Columbia). Note: the online component is intended to be completed midway between the two face-to-face sessions. The online course contains modules discussing the following topics: Ethics and the Responsible Researcher, Research Misconduct, Data Acquisition and Management, Publication Practices and Responsible Authorship, Writing with Integrity , Peer Review: Role and Process in Life Sciences Research, Responsible Mentoring, Collaborative Research, Conflicts of Interest, Human Participants Research and Ethics, and Animal Care and Use.
