Virtual Coffee Chats are currently on hold while we hire a new Grad & Postdoc Wellbeing Support Coordinator. However, if you are experiencing difficulties in any part of your life—academic, financial, emotional, practical, family—support is available. Here are some options:
For students:
Counselling for Faculty of Medicine graduate students: Asmae El-Bouhali is our new embedded counsellor for Faculty of Medicine graduate students. Book an appointment with Asmae by phoning UBC Counselling Services.
Wellness Centre Info Desk: Explore and ask questions about health and wellness resources, services, and support options with Wellness Centre Assistants, trained UBC students. Ask your questions in-person, via Zoom, or via an online form.
Same-day appointments at UBC Counselling Services: choose either a Wellness Advising appointment focused on assessment and wellness planning, or a same-day single-session counselling appointment.
UBC Student Assistance Program (UBC SAP) is a free, 24/7 wellness resource for students. Call any time for immediate support, personal counselling, life coaching, and more.
For concerns related to your graduate program or studies, your program director/advisor can also be an excellent resource.
For postdocs:
The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is a confidential service offering expert information and immediate support via phone, video, app, or in-person. Contact the LifeWorks Care Access Centre 24/7 at 1-800-387-4765.
