The Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course is mandatory for all biomedical research graduate students in the Faculty of Medicine who began their studies on or after January 2013.
The RCR course is offered three times in an academic year and consists of two live virtual sessions and an online component to be completed between the two virtual sessions.
Course dates
The course dates for 2024-2025 are:
- Session I: October 8th, 10 AM -12 PM and October 22nd, 10 AM – 12 PM (session will be held on Zoom)
- Session II: Dates TBD, Spring term, 2025 (sessions will be held on Zoom)
- Session III: Dates TBD, Summer term, 2025 (sessions will be held on Zoom)
Registration
The students will receive an email from the Graduate and Postdoctoral Education office or their graduate programs to register for the RCR course.
Course details
The course has two 2-hour virtual sessions that comprise a lecture a senior faculty members and group discussions facilitated by the postdoctoral fellows or research staff. There is also an online portion of the course offered by the CITI program can be accessed at www.citiprogram.org (please register under the University of British Columbia) and is intended to be completed after the first virtual session. The material for case study discussions and the detailed instructions are emailed to the students in advance.
