Bring your coffee for an informal chat and check-in with fellow trainees from across the Faculty of Medicine as we wrap up an unusual and challenging summer and round the corner into an equally unusual September. This event will bring trainees together to leverage the wisdom in the (Zoom) room, sharing experiences in an atmosphere of connection and support.

We will break into groups of 6-8, each with a “host” or facilitator to help the conversation flow smoothly. Topics might include:

  • Checking in at this point in the pandemic and research curtailment: How are you doing? Where are you at?
  • What have you found helpful?
  • What is still proving challenging?
  • What feels different for you now, compared to March/April?
  • What suggestions or advice would you share with new trainees beginning in September?

At the end of the conversation we will gather some themes to create a collective document of lived wisdom and creative responses that can be shared with incoming trainees. The event will be facilitated by Dr. Karen Ross, Grad & Postdoc Wellbeing Support Coordinator for the Faculty of Medicine. Following the Conversation Café, there will be an opportunity to share feedback with Karen regarding gaps, concerns, or unmet wellbeing needs that you would like to see addressed.

Please register in advance here. Questions can be directed to Dr. Karen Ross at karen.ross@ubc.ca. Looking forward to connecting soon!
